Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Resort Management

Programme Introduction

The world has experienced phenomenal growth in the realm of tourism during the last 20 years. Tourism is the world's largest industry and the largest generator of jobs. Globally, travel and tourism is expected to yield 328 million jobs by 2010.

The need for well-trained managers in this vast and diverse field encompassing -- hotel and resort services, conventions & exhibitions, marketing, finance and operations, and human resource development -- has never been more critical.

Singapore is a living laboratory offering opportunities in all facests of this dynamic and competitive industry. Few places in the world are better suited to study the integrated resort industry than Singapore: An Integrated Resort (IR) is a euphemism for mixed-use developments with a casino in Singapore. During a parliament session on 18 April 2005, Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore, announced the cabinet's decision to develop two integrated resorts in Marina South and Sentosa. These are planned to be completed in 2009, and would be the first casinos in the country. ^
