Programme Introduction

The Advanced Diploma program develops students in their understanding of the business in relation to the hospitality and resort industry. As a student, you will gain better overview of the industry and have sound resort specialization skills such as event management and service standards in the resort industry. Knowledge provided by this course will better groom students for entry level supervisory or management positions in the integrated resort and hospitality industry.

Our Advanced Diploma provides you an option to progress on to our Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Resort Management and further to pursue the Master degree in International Business awarded by Coventry University, UK.

Course Structure

Course Structure 221BSS Business Management--- 221BSS Business Management --- Aims to develop an analytical and strategic perspective of business, by giving an integrative view of the business organisation while understanding the external factors that influence internal decision-making. Students will use theoretical models and frameworks as an aid to analysis and problem solving, and develop both applied and academic research skills to evaluate evidence which may support their conclusions. 242HRM Employee Resourcing--- 242HRM Employee Resourcing --- Aims to develop knowledge and understanding of employee resourcing issues and enable them to critically evaluate its contribution to the achievement of corporate objectives. 262MKT Applied Marketing Management--- 262MKT Applied Marketing Management --- Introduces different specialist areas within marketing. Enhances knowledge of marketing principles and practices by applying concepts to the marketing planning process framework. Also, enables to design, construct and implement a marketing plan and evaluate its effectiveness by analyzing the marketing and financial impact of business decision. 266MKT Applied Advertising--- 266MKT Applied Advertising --- It is designed to allow students the opportunity to analyze the promotional requirements of a product and to produce a creative solution to a set of communication problems. The aim of the module is to enable students to gain a detailed knowledge of how consumers interact with advertising communications and to develop creative problem solving skills. 200AMG Managing Leisure Businesses--- 200AMG Managing Leisure Businesses --- Designed to develop students' understanding of the key concepts in financial and management accounting, human resource management and marketing. 208AMG Events Management I--- 208AMG Events Management I --- Introduces students to the sector of events and festivals, in particular exploring the wide range of forms they can take. Using a variety of examples it develops in students the practical skills involved in planning and conducting an event or festival. Industrial Attachments are optional portions of the course that may be attempted upon completion of the programme. These are not a requirement to graduate. Course participants who successfully complete this course may have industrial attachments within Singapore. Attachments are subject to availability, English qualifications, academic qualifications, interviews, and final acceptance by the respective employers. Attachments may also be paid/unpaid. Advanced Diploma Programme Entry Requirements Applicants to be considered for the Diploma programme must normally have: Related Business Diploma from Auston Institute of Management & Technology, or Related Business Diploma from recognised institutions. Professional Certificate from recognised institutions. Exceptions to the above will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants whose first language is not English must have a minimum TOEFL 213 by computer/550 by paper, IELTS 6.0, completion of AIMT English for Foreign Students programme or equivalent. Appliants must be 18 years or older. Admission to various entry levels is subject to final approval from the awarding institution/university.
