BSc (Hons) in Computer Science
(MOE Ref:EDUN N24-02-008 V64)
Programme Introduction
As a student on this course, you will learn how to apply appropriate methods to specify, design, program, test and document software. You will examine the hardware these systems run on, from the single-user PC up to multi-user and networked computer systems. You will learn how to analyse and design information processing systems using computer-based tools, and build database systems to meet commercial needs.
Alongside this, skills acquired during this course in logical thinking, problem solving and project management will equip you for a career in many roles in business or industry and many more in emerging fields.
Our Bachelor degree provides you an option to progress on to our Master degree in Information Technology Management or Engineering Business Management awarded by Coventry University, UK.
Course Structure
Course Structure
- 303EC Individual Project--- 303EC Individual Project ---
It serves as the main vehicle for integration of the various programme modules and provides a focus for practical application of the knowledge gained on the programme. Projects are expected to be a substantial practical problem-solving exercise or a research study, which require students to demonstrate their skills in organization, time-management, investigation and communication.
- 306KM Advanced Information Systems--- 306KM Advanced Information Systems ---
This module seeks to enable students to develop theoretical understanding and practical skills in relation to the analysis, design and utilization of information systems in different application environments. In particular, students will develop an understanding of systems and technologies from a user/client perspective.
- 340CT Large Scale Software Systems--- 340CT Large Scale Software Systems ---
This module identifies the problems that can arise in the production of a large scale software development (LSSD) and the design criteria for minimising these problems. Students look at the tools and techniques needed to successfully manage a LSSD whilst avoiding the problems related to configuration management and version control.
- 350CT System Security--- 350CT System Security ---
This module aims to give students both a theoretical and a practical understanding of the basic foundations and technologies of network and systems security, which include but are not limited to various cryptographic techniques and their applications in network security, web security, operating systems security, database security.
- 380CT Formal Aspects of Computer Science--- 380CT Formal Aspects of Computer Science ---
It aims to give students a practical and theoretical understanding of the formal foundations of computer science. It includes formal specification of patterns, languages and software components. It describes different models of computation and the issues of computability and program correctness.
- 395CT Enterprise Systems Development--- 395CT Enterprise Systems Development ---
Aims to give an understanding and skills in the area of developing enterprise systems, which encompass and integrate the functionality of the various components of an enterprise. The module will examine typical enterprise structure in terms of functional areas and workflow and show how these can be mapped on enterprise architecture.
