ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Education

Electricity – the only thing more important than WiFi

This course is designed to be a pre-university course that prepares you for your bachelors degree. It skips the mundane ‘Academic Writing’ and ‘Independent Thought’ modules in exchange for more practically oriented content

Our core theme: KEEPING YOU INTERESTED.

We dive straight into academic content that you actually want and plus you earn an academic qualification.

Electrical engineering is an incredibly diverse field where people range from totally unqualified individuals to extremely qualified professionals. However so many routes within the trade are not defined.

How are these diverse skills trained in any one programme?

The truth is they cannot.

But what can be done is broad generalizations and generalized skills to ensure that the students career has a broad application and wide opportunity for a variety of roles and success. This is what we aim to achieve with our Specialist Diploma.

Modules:

  • SKILLS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
When you progress from high school to university, there is a dramatic shift in the content, the way you learn, the way you have to think, and the way you are assessed. Rather than let you figure it out for yourself, we jump start the process with this module.

  • MATHEMATICS FOR TECHNOLOGY
Math is the language of engineers. You have to speak the language! Math might scare you but not after this module. Get the fundamentals right so we can build on a strong foundation.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY
Most schools will start you off with some power system modules and basic stuff. If you’re choosing this course, chances are you already have some relevant work experience in this space. You know the basics but you’ve never formally been taught so this module covers the core of electrical technology today.

  • DIGITAL SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY
Increasingly, workplaces and customers are demanding that electrical systems aren’t just dumb (on-off) systems but there are steps to it that include feedback and data. This requires digital systems and an understanding of how circuitry works in an electronic, SMART / Digital world.
