Welcome to the Electronics Industry. These are the Fundamentals.

This course covers a wide range of subject areas for a digital-development environment such as the semiconductor industry in Singapore. Graduates are likely to find strong employment within companies like United Technologies, Rolls Royce, Micron, and others who regularly engage our graduates.

Full-Time:

This course is the equivalent of the second half of a UK, three-year honours degree and includes 180 credits.

Minimum Age

18 years old

Minimum Academic Qualifications

• Students are required to have a GCE ‘A’ Level, with minimum three (3) pass, including general paper; or

• A Polytechnic or PEI diploma from non-relevant majors (Business, Social Sciences, Humanities); or

• Transfers and other equivalent qualification based on Singapore criterion may be given exemptions based on academic qualifications

• Auston Foundation Certificate Programme

• 12 years of formal education

Mature Candidates

• Mature candidates (aged 30 with minimum 8 years working experience): may be admitted on a case to case basis with a minimum of 10 years of formal education and certification that is deemed equivalent by the institute’s Academic Board. Additional measures may be taken to ensure the candidate’s suitability for the programme

English Proficiency

Students must demonstrate English proficiency that is defined as follows:

• A Pass (C6) or better for O Levels; or

• A minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent; or

• An equivalent qualification with demonstrated equivalence to the CEFR at level B2 or higher.

Electronics Technician

  • Perform electronics system and component diagnostic, trouble shooting and repair work
  • Able to read and understand schematic wiring diagrams
  • Perform field service work
  • Able to understand electronics failure

Engineering Assistant

  • Devise preventive maintenance procedures and plan for all equipment, in accordance to equipment requirements as recommended by vendors / suppliers.
  • Procurement of parts and/or securing of services for preventive or breakdown maintenance works where applicable.
  • Implement preventive maintenance work independently and/or with a team.
  • Assist in process pre and post operations e.g. chemical mixing, equipment and lab upkeep.
  • Assist in operation of processes, e.g. membrane and module fabrication.
